The Big V Sail is a fantastic new race from Cowes to Cork that was staged for the first time in 2006. The race offers sailors an exciting new offshore race and creating an innovative and practical Cork Week feeder race for those yachts entered into the world famous Cork Week regatta. PREPARE TO CAST OFF FOR THE BIG V SAIL Are you up for a new challenge? Set sail for Cork in the ‘Big V’ yacht race, 7-11th July 2008. THE HOTTEST NEW EVENT ON THE SAILING CALENDAR Designed as a warm up to Cork Week, the Big V Sail will set off from Cowes to skim the seas to Ireland where a party and prizes await. "The Big V race overall winner's result will be recorded by the World Sailing Speed Record Council(WSSRC) in their race records list. Crews will be able to challenge this record in subsequent Cowes to Cork races." NOVICE OR PRO, GIVE THE BIG BOYS A RUN FOR THEIR MONEY It doesn’t matter if you’re an old salt or a complete land-lubber, you can still take part. Race for the fun of it, or to get your name on the silverware. You might even set the Big V Ocean Race Record. Britannia Corporate Events is responsible for organising the racing, handling race entries, processing entries from individuals and matching individuals/groups up with yacht owners. So whatever your requirements contacting Britannia is the way forward. Britannia Corporate Events can also help groups and companies with yacht charters for Cork Week. Owners and skippers can enter their yachts in the Big V Sail for a race entry fee of £50 inc VAT . If you are an individual without a yacht, Britannia can place you on a yacht that is participating in the Big V Sail for a cost of £345 inc VAT . This will include your contribution to race entry, all food aboard whist sailing, safety equipment and wet weather clothing. For more information on race entry or individual places please contact the regatta manager Itinerary Sunday 6 July 1000 onwards Arrive and register, and meet up with your crew. If you haven't' already check out your boat and its moorings and make final checks for the big day. 1800 Welcome party at a Cowes yacht club. Monday 7 July 1000 First yachts start heading to the start point. 1100 Race start for the 1st class. Start times are approximate only and are subject to class splits that will be determined at the discretion of the race comittee.
