Britannia Corporate Events would like to thank the sponsors of the Manches Cup 2006 for their continued support      | MANCHES CUP SECURES TV DEAL 16.01.06 The Manches Cup, one of the largest regattas in the UK and the leading sporting and social event for the legal industry, has secured a deal with Watersports World that will see the event televised for the first time in the regatta's history. In the UK the Manches Cup will be televised on Sky Sports 2 and Sky Sports 3 as part of the Watersports World programme and will then be syndicated around the world to a total audience of up to 325 million viewers. “We are looking forward to our biggest Manches Cup yet and are very excited to have TV coverage this year,” says Simon Boulding, marketing manager of Britannia Corporate Events and the Manches Cup. “The regatta has proved itself to be a fantastic team building event and crews range in experience from complete novices to ex-Olympic sailors." “Many firms make the most of the weekend for client entertaining as well as team building, and if they are one of the many winners the publicity is a bonus,” he adds. The Manches Cup is in its 16th year and takes place in May. It is the UK’s fourth largest sailing event, the second biggest corporate sailing event in the country and the legal profession’s largest regatta. Around 800 lawyers take part as crew and it has proved itself to be the biggest social, sporting and networking event for lawyers. Sail 4 Cancer has been appointed as the official charity with the objective of raising £50,000. The charity was set up in 1991 by a group of keen sailors who had suffered bereavement through cancer and it both raises money and offers sailing experiences to cancer patients and their families. The dates for the 2006 Manches Cup are 19-21 May 2006.
