MAJOR NEW SAILING CHALLENGE LAUNCHED BY THE PPP/PFI INDUSTRY

Major figures from the PPP/PFI sector have launched a new UK sailing challenge which has already captured the imagination of sailing enthusiasts from Barclays Bank to Balfour Beatty.

Organisers Britannia Corporate Events and sponsors, construction management consultant Gleeds have so far attracted ten key teams who will battle for an inaugural crown off Cowes in the summer in an event which is already being termed PPP/PFI’s answer to Cowes week. So far in its pre-launch phase the organisers have already attracted Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation Europe, Balfour Beatty Capital Projects,Babcock and Brown, Barclays Bank, Hammonds, Mill Group, Ryhurst and Equion. The information service Public Private Finance is also backing the initiative which is raising money for a key hospital charity involved with a PFI project in the UK.

Simon Boulding, Marketing Manager of Britannia Corporate Events said, “This event combines the opportunity to not only network with the crème de la crème of the PPP/PFI sector but also to raise money for a worthwhile cause and race 37 ft yachts in some of the UK’s finest sailing conditions.”

The races will take place over three days in the Hamble, Cowes and Solent and will offer each seven person team a package of boat, experienced skipper, the race organisation and an awards dinner. Those taking part will include organisations active in the arena of PPP/PFI from property advisors to finance houses and from contractors to legal professionals.
