 | VOLVO ANNOUNCES SPONSORSHIP OF BRITANNIA 21.02.05 Volvo Car UK has continued its support of Britannia with the announcement today of Volvo’s appointment as the official car of Britannia Corporate Events for 2005. Volvo has a proven track record in sponsoring and supporting sailing in the UK, from grassroots level, to the very best of Britain's sailing talent. Team Volvo for Life, is a programme that supports some of Britain's best sailors achieve their ultimate goals, team members include Double Gold Medallists Ben Ainslie and Shirley Robertson and Volvo Ocean Race skippers Neal and Lisa McDonald. The grassroots of the sailing is important to Volvo. Making the sport accessible to all and supporting young talent is key to the Volvo RYA Keelboat Programme, Volvo RYA Champion Club Programme and the Volvo Musto Optimist Championships. In 2005 Volvo will introduce their environmental commitment into its sailing activities, by providing recycling bins and bags to sailors to encourage recycling at sailing events where possible. "Volvo are pleased to be supporting Britannia Events for the second consecutive year. 2005 will be an exciting year for Volvo and sailing, the Volvo Ocean Race starts in Vigo Spain, and we will be offering all Britannia Events customers the chance to win an VIP trip to Vigo to watch the start of the race on 13th November" said Sarah Rees, Sports Marketing and Sponsorship Manager, Volvo Car UK.
