The event was a unique experience for the novice or expert sailor to take part in a series of races, whilst at the same time raising money for SPARKS. (Sports Aiding medical Research for Kids)

SPARKS’ aim is to help all children to be born healthy and stay healthy. Since 1991, we have funded over 150 projects and committed more than £11 million to tackle conditions as diverse as cerebral palsy, meningitis, the dangers of premature birth, spina bifida childhood arthritis and cancers.

Only recently the charity was awarded a record £400,000 National Lottery grant to fund a vital research project into childhood arthritis at London’s Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Institute of Child Health.

Event organiser, Simon Boulding, says: “This is an exciting event for us and a great opportunity for people to enjoy the exhilaration of a competitive sailing event and benefiting an extremely worthwhile charity.”
