With over 1,500 yachts competing (that’s more than 10,000 sailors), the annual one day Round the Island Race is the yachting world’s equivalent of the London Marathon.
First raced in 1931, yachts still compete for the Round the Island Race Gold Roman Bowl, the legendary trophy presented by the race’s founder Cyril Windeler. Little did he realise what he was starting and today, a huge variety of yachts take part, from maxi-sleds and high performance multi-hulls to small coastal cruisers and sedate old timers. The Round the Island Race is a multitude of races within a race!
Britannia Corporate Events is a sponsor and race partner of the JP Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race 2012. Britannia is the only official yacht charter and corporate hospitality partner for the race.
No prior experience is required for the Round the Island Race, as our professional crew are excellent tutors in both the techniques and enjoyment of sailing.

Britannia offers you the opportunity to compete in the Round the Island Race aboard our fleet of Beneteau 40.7 or 47.7 yachts.
As a new and exclusive offering for 2011, Britannia is also offering its VIP Race Place, allowing individuals to race in the 80th anniversary edition of the fantastic event without the expense of having to charter an entire yacht.

Standard package:
09:00 Join your boat for a comprehensive safety and boat brief and introduction to your professional crew. Then get out on the water and training begins.
17:00 After training day, moor yacht in Cowes and debrief and preparation of boat for racing tomorrow. Crew departs for showers and dinner ashore. Visit the JP Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race Village, with bar and live music.
VIP individual place:
08:30-10:00 onwards Arrive and register, and meet up with your fellow sailor sand professional crew and have full safety briefing.
10:00 Set sail for a full day of training, with lunch onboard.
16:00-17:00 Berth in Cowes Yacht Haven and enjoy the atmosphere of the race village.

05:30 Crew rise and breakfast. Your yacht departs the marina for race start.
06:00 Race start (weather dependent – approximate time).
15:00 Race finish (weather dependent – approximate time).
18:00 Once boat is packed away it’s time to go and party in the Race Village, or elsewhere in Cowes!

10:00 Depart Cowes for a leisurely sail home. Arrive back at marina and depart for home after a great weekend of sailing and racing!
