Our racing coach will work with you to establish your goals and requirements and will then devise a bespoke yacht racing programme to help you achieve and even exceed your goals!
As a new developement to 2012, Britannia is delighted to offer bespoke training for those taking part in the J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race.
The J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race is the largest and most spectacular yacht race of its kind in the world, enjoyed by top professionals and newcomers alike. For a novice, or sailor with limited racing experience, the racing can be a daunting experience.
Britannia Corporate Events, the official yacht charter and corporate hospitality partner of the race is delighted to announce our Introduction to Racing Course, specifically tailored to the J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race.
Our one day course offers you the following:
- Tuition from our expert, RYA qualified skippers.
- Breakfast briefing, with an introduction to the basic theory of racing and plenty of time for questions. Topics covered include:
- Preparing your yacht for the race
- Preparing your crew
- Pre-start procedure, hints and tips
- On the start line – the start sequence and rules of the road
- The first beat and port/starboard rules
- Common causes of racing incidents and how to avoid them
- Morning practical session onboard
- Lunch
- Afternoon practical session with racing scenarios between 2 yachts
- Debrief, plus Q&A with our skippers
The course will take place on our top quality Beneteau 40.7 and First 40 yachts with our highly experienced, friendly, RYA qualified skippers and costs just £199 inc VAT per person.
Courses will be staged in Hamble in April and May 2012.
Itinerary
A sample, basic, introduction to yacht racing course (devised by our lead racing coach Julian Pearson) is as follows:

Mock race.
