Our 2025 sailing season was nothing short of spectacular, with a packed calendar of exciting regattas, exhilarating races, and unforgettable social moments. From sunny training days to breezy challenges and lively evenings ashore, here are the standout highlights from each of our key events.
Legal Cup: 17 – 18 May
The season kicked off with the ever-popular Legal Cup, bringing together 7 boats for two days of competitive fun.
Bird & Bird set the tone early, taking full advantage of their training day and sailing to first place.
A&O Shearman fielded an impressive 3 boats, adding to the competitive spirit.
Day 1 offered glorious sunshine and a fresh afternoon breeze, followed by a glamorous gala dinner at RORC in Cowes, where Plan B Alternative Provision joined the celebrations.
Participants danced the night away to local Band, ‘Blonde Bombshell’.
Day 2 delivered tight racing before a relaxed prizegiving at Banana Wharf, drinks in hand, under the warm sun.
Round the Island Race: 7 June
Next up was the legendary Round the Island Race (RTIR) – a true bucket-list experience.
Almost our entire fleet took to the water, including two skippered boats for crew from Scalespace.
With 1,400 boats participating in 2025, the event served up breezy but exhilarating conditions, testing sailors’ skills and stamina.
The post-race buzz lit up harbours all around the island, creating an electric atmosphere long after the sails went down.
ASFP Regatta: 18 June
The Association for Specialist Fire Protection event brought together 14 boats for a day of close-fought racing.
From sunrise to sunset, crews enjoyed wall-to-wall sunshine and non-stop action.
The day wrapped up perfectly with cake and tea before prizegiving at Banana Wharf, a sweet ending to a thrilling regatta.
Reginald Fessenden Challenge: 1 – 2 July
An annual favourite, hosted by Avro Yachting, the Reginald Fessenden Challenge once again combined spirited racing with a strong charitable focus, raising money for The Not Forgotten.
Seeing all 16 Oceanis 37s battling it out on the water was a breathtaking sight.
Crews enjoyed a networking lunch at The Royal Southern Yacht Club, followed by a lively BBQ dinner and auction, making it a blinding event as usual.
St James’s Place Regatta: 3 July
A perfect mid-summer regatta for networking and relaxed competition, the St James’s Place event brought together 5 boats of members and finance professionals.
The day began with a spirited race and concluded with cakes and coffee at Banana Wharf before heading to The Royal Southern Yacht Club for a BBQ.
Evening festivities spilled into the local pubs of Hamble, creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
Both Rhodes and Barnes are already planning to return next year with two boats each, alongside exciting new entrants.
Cowes Week: 2 – 8 August
The iconic Cowes Week delivered everything from thrilling racing to vibrant shoreside celebrations.
Our teams enjoyed 2 spectator days and 3 race days, with 7 teams taking to the water.
On land, guests indulged in two-course lunches at the Royal Ocean Racing Club, accompanied by their drink of choice.
Evenings in Cowes were alive with live bands and buzzing high street celebrations, ensuring the fun continued well into the night.
Britannia Regatta: 9 – 10 September
We wrapped up the season in style with the Britannia Regatta, a matched fleet racing event filled with tight, exhilarating duels.
After the excitement on the water, sailors soaked up the evening atmosphere in Cowes.
The season concluded with a sunny prizegiving at Banana Wharf, bringing our incredible 2025 calendar to a perfect close.
